How worried are you about the swine flu?

April C asked:

I am just curious about how worried you are about swine flu. Where do you live? Are there any known cases in your state? Do you have children?

It’s important to be educated about these things. Here are some resources:

  2. swine flu

I live in Tennessee. There’s been a few cases, recently in memphis–a good hour from Jackson. I don’t have any kids.

To tell you the truth, I ain’t worried about this swine flu. It’s just a bunch of people getting hyped up about something that you don’t need to sweat over. The more they talk about it, the more people get stressed out about it, the more cases we get. Simple thing to keep from getting swine flu? Don’t stress over it. Stress can lower your immune system causing you to become more ill.

This whole flu-pandemic thing is a waste of air-time. It’ll blow over like Anthrax, West Nile, and Mad Cow Disease.

  3. swine flu

I live just south of London in the UK were there are at least 2 confirmed cases. I’m not that worried because the cure will be ready soon and I think it has all been blown way out of proportion. It has not killed anyone in the UK yet so I’m fine.

  4. swine flu

I live in scotland and I think 32 people have been diagnosed with it thus far?Not sure of the exact figure right now but one person in my city has been tested positive for it aswell. But there have been no deaths.

I’m not worried. It’s just like every other flu, those most at risk are the elderly, the very young and those with weakened immune systems. What else is new? Flu kills people all the time,it’s just that this particular flu is spreading during the spring/summer instead of the winter time.
Honestly,I just plan to take lots of vitamin C,wash my hands and chill the f*ck out.
If it ends up wiping us all out,I’ll take it back,I swear.

  5. swine flu

I live in Maryland…I have no idea if there are any cases here, fifteen years old, so no, I don’t have children.
And I’m not worried about it in the least. It’s being blown way out of proportion and I find all the restrictions and warnings to be completely ridiculous and disproportional to what’s actually happening. 8 people have died so far. More people die from regular flu every month. Does this mean we all go around wearing masks and banning pork products? No. It’s like that whole tomato salmonella scare a few months ago. Where did that ever go? The truth is, it was never a serious issue in the first place. People need to stop getting scared of every little thing, get out there, and live their lives.

  6. swine flu

I am not at all worried about the swine flu. I do tell people to cover their mouths when they cough. I work in a call center that has about 700 people working in it. i have to babysit alot. I make people wipe their desk’s mice and keyboards with lysol or clorox wipes at the start and end of their shift. I also keep a big bottle of germ-x on my desk and encourage my team of agents (27) to use them. I have found that since we heard about swine flu other coach’s have been doing the same.

  7. swine flu

At this point, just a little worried. Concerned might be a better word.
I’m in Texas, there are several cases here. They have even shut down all high school sports and extracurricular activities. I have 2 children, one of which has asthma (which is why I’m a little worried) and I’m expecting #3.

  8. swine flu

    I’m not worried at all.
    I live in california,
have a lot of family in
    Mexico
El Paso, Texas (right at the border of mexico)
    Sand Diego
We call them up and they haven’t had any problems with the whole “swine flu” case.
People are overreacting a little too much, and the media is not helping calm people down at all. You can imagine how the germ-o-phob people are right now. :O
I think this swine flu will pass very soon, they’ll find a vaccination and poof it will dissappear with all the other diseases that had a bit of an outbreak like SARS did.

  9. swine flu

Not in the least bit worried about swine flu

  10. swine flu

not really. it hasn’t got a very high mortality rate, so the majority of us should be fine.

  11. swine flu

Not really worried, just concerned. I live in Colorado which has two confirmed cases as of today. I have grandchildren.

  12. swine flu

I live in Birmingham england UK
and no i don’t really think about it to be honest :)
