Ovarian Cyst Rupture: Indications, Complications, And Prevention

Ovarian cysts are very common, even though often remain asymptomatic - in other words there are no indications, and various women with cysts do not even know that they have them. However, if you have an ovarian cyst rupture, you will almost certainly know about it, for the reason that it could be agonizingly painful.

An ovarian cyst is a fluid filled sac which develops on your ovary, generally because the egg has not been released at ovulation, and the follicle (or sac) fills with fluid. This could go unnoticed and just disappear, or it could continue to grow, in which case it usually starts to cause some abdominal pain. If it continues to grow, the pain commonly gets worse. At some point the walls of the cyst can become weak and start to leak or even burst (just like a water balloon) - this is an ovarian cyst rupture.

When this tkaes place, there is normally severe and sudden pain, caused by the leaked fluid irritating the pelvic lining. The pain is similar to 'standard' ovarian cyst pain, but much sharper. In most cases, this pain will start to reduce over a few days.

Nonetheless, there could sometimes be complications from a ruptured ovarian cyst. The cyst could hemorrhage which could cause serious blood loss, depending on exactly where and how the rupture took place. It could be essential to have a laparoscopy to be sure that there is no serious internal bleeding. This is the same method as is often utilized to surgically remove a cyst, but could also be used as a way to carry out a gynecological examination.

Torsion, or twisting of the ovary, is one more possible complication of a ruptured ovarian cyst. If the twisting is severe, this have serious health consequences. Ovarian torsion can restrict the blood supply to the ovary, which causes death of the ovarian tissue, called ovarian necrosis - this can affect future fertility. Restricted blood supply could likewise cause inflammation and infection, which if untreated could be life threatening.

It should be noted that in most cases, even if your cyst does rupture, there would be no complications and the pain will reduce after a few days. But if you think your cyst has ruptured, or if you have prolonged pain, you do need to seek medical attention, just in case.

To avoid a ruptured cyst, it is always best to treat the root causes so that the cysts do not appear in the first place. The best way to do this is by using natural holistic remedies which - unlike conventional medicine - do really address these causes, and not just the signs.

The Eczema Diet And How It Works As A Treatment Of Rashes

Medical treatments like OTC eczema creams are sprouting like wild mushrooms in local pharmacies. All of these eczema creams promise to get rid of your body rashes and itching. With people searching for alternative eczema rash treatments, natural treatment options are also catching up with the trend and one of these options is the eczema diet.

Many people are still skeptics of the eczema diet. After all, how in the world is it possible that you can improve your condition by simply sticking to a diet? But as we know, food does play a role in worsening eczema symptoms. So it is quite obvious that there are also food varieties that can improve eczema.

Foods To Include In The Eczema Diet:

First of all, you have to remember that the eczema diet is not universal. The one that you decide to follow may be different from other people. Therefore, the eczema diet that you wish to follow is a personal choice.

There are only three things that you have to remember if you want to go with the eczema diet. First, you have to take note of the foods that trigger your eczema and exclude them from the diet. Second, the diet should include nutritious food like fruits, vegetables, and fresh meats. Foods that have no nutritional value like sugar and flour should not be used when cooking meals with this diet plan. Third and last, the foods you include in the diet must be strictly organic. Foods that were processed or chemically treated are not to be included in your eczema diet.

The Concept Behind The Eczema Diet:

If you have been battling eczema for the past few years, you may not be new to the fact that there are certain foods that trigger the outburst of your body rashes. You should also have noticed that you and other people who have eczema have different food tolerances. While your body reacts to nuts, for example, that of someone else reacts to seafood.

The principle behind the eczema diet is that it incorporates foods that do not trigger or aggravate symptoms in anyway. Aside from avoiding eczema-triggering foods, the diet is also highly nutritious and can therefore assist the body in the repair of damaged skin cells and tissues. The skin damage that occurs in eczema will later be explained. Lastly, because the eczema diet is purely organic, you will also benefit from an improved immune response and the reduction of the recurrence of eczema.

Skin Damage And How The Eczema Diet Can Reverse This:

It may not be obvious but skin damage lurks behind your rashes. Looking back, eczema is defined as the inflammation or swelling of the skin's uppermost layer. The impaired functioning of the immune system is what triggers this condition in which the immune system attacks our own skin cells where the allergens from the food have been deposited.

Naturally, our body will impose a restorative process following the inflammation. New skin cells will be generated in replacement of the damaged cells. However, the body cannot begin this process with inadequate nutrition. Food is our only source of replenishment, ready to provide us with our needed nutrients. But you can't just eat any food. You have to pick out the healthy ones so that when you eat them, your body will absorb their vitamins and minerals and use them up in the restorative process.

Why The Eczema Diet Is Organic:

One of the most important factors of the diet is organic food. Chemicals and fertilizers used in growing and packaging food are not good for the body at all. They are even more harmful for people suffering from this condition because they are more sensitive to what they eat and what they come in contact with. By cutting off processed foods from the diet, patients have a better chance of avoiding the recurrence of their symptoms. Also, organic food is undeniably healthier than processed or chemically-fertilized food. In turn then, you will also have a healthier body and immune system when you follow this diet

Alternative pain management has been on the rise in the last decade. This article covers the six leading alternative pain management practices.

6 Alternative Pain Management Trend Setters

Addiction to prescription pain killers is an all-to-common occurrence in the U.S., and it can happen to almost anyone. Man is in pain. Man goes to doctor. Doctor prescribes pain medication. Man feels better. Prescription runs out. Pain comes back. Man goes back to doctor. Man gets prescription renewed. Man does this many more times. Man eventually gets surgery and fixes source of pain, has a full recovery. Man no longer needs pain meds for pain, doctor discontinues prescribing them. But man still needs pain meds...because he is addicted. Man resorts to obtaining pain meds illegally. Man eventually gets caught and suffers public humiliation. Man goes to rehab and finally becomes free of his addiction.

Sound crazy? Think it is unfathomable that our great medical system could aid in the addiction of an otherwise upstanding man? See Rush Limbaugh.

The truth is hundreds of thousands of individuals are hooked on narcotic pain medications every year. And who can blame them? Pain hurts and so do withdrawal symptoms.

A different trend of thought for dealing with pain has surfaced within the last few decades. Appropriately called "alternative pain management," this trend has grown into an industry providing many products and services that thousands of chronic pain sufferers rely upon on a daily basis.

A new study by David Eisenberg, M.D found that total visits to alternative medicine practitioners jumped 47% from 427 million in 1990, to 629 million in 1997 which easily topped the 386 million visits to primary-care doctors.

Here is your quick rundown on the top trends in alternative pain management.

TENS

Tens stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation. Transcutaneous (trans-kyoo-tey-nee-uh s) means "through, or by way of the skin." TENS sends electrical impulses via electrodes or conductive garments to occupy the nerve pathways with a more comfortable sensation which overrides the pain. TENS recently was recognized by the American Society of Anesthesiologists' Task Force on Chronic Pain Management as an effective mode of pain relief. (Read full article here.)

Chiropractics

Despite its growing acceptance even within "mainstream" medicine, Chiropractics still has its doubters. Yet it has far more advocates. Golfers and other pro sports individuals will often employ a private Chiropractor. The practice has been growing in popularity here in the U.S. since the early 80's.

Decompression

Usually administered by a specialized Chiropractor, decompression is very effective for disc-related back pain sufferers. The patient is harnessed on a table and a computer uses micro movements to slightly expand the amount of space between the vertebrae.

Visceral Manipulation

This is practice of "massaging" internal organs and the membrane that supports them. When an organ is damaged the membrane that holds it in place can stiffen forcing the surrounding organs to move around it. Thousands of ailing folks have been helped by a therapy called visceral manipulation. It targets internal organs ranging from the liver to the lungs.

Acupuncture

Got pain? Fix it by sticking dozens of needles in you. Sounds fun doesn't it? Acupuncture dates way back to ancient China. It works by altering the senses of the nerves surrounding the area in pain. Reviews have been mixed as with most alternative approaches. Some swear by it, others get nothing out of it.

Yoga

Combining the art of meditation and stretching, yoga is the ultimate heal-yourself approach to dealing with pain. There is no shortage of believers either. But like most alternative approaches, science can't find any solid evidence to back up the claims of the thousands who swear by it.

There are many other alternative approaches to managing pain in addition to these front runners. If you are in pain it may be in your best interest to try some of these remedies first before accepting a potential addictive regimen of pain killers. Who knows, you may even be able to avoid a surgery and improve your overall health. And good health is the number one preventative medicine to keep you out of pain in the first place!

Suffer from lower back pain? Did you know that over 90 percent of all back pain will heal on its own without surgery? Michael Harris is the marketing director for Spinal Rehab Solutions, Inc. and is an expert author on all things pertaining to alternative pain management and lower back pain, treatment and recovery.
Dark circles under eyes are quite difficult to treat. Your treatment has to work on a deeper level to really get rid of the problem.

Best Treatments For Dark Circles Under Eyes Are Now Revealed!

Keeping the skin around your eyes bright and healthy can be difficult because of the appearance of dark circles under eyes. This is primarily caused by the leaking of red blood cells. When red cells leak to the surface layers of the skin, the red color of cells mingles with the color of thin skin.

Dark circles under eyes should be treated at a deeper level. If you want a better way of treating this problem, check out the following treatments:

1. Coffee grounds

Place left-over coffee grounds on a cheese cloth and wrap the cheese cloth around it. Tie it with a string. Soak it in warm water first and apply it on your eyes. Let it stay there for about 15 minutes.

When used topically, coffee grounds can stimulate healthier blood flow. This will prevent the leaking of red blood cells.

2. Exercise daily

Exercising can facilitate sweating. When you sweat, your body purges out toxins that tend to slow down circulation. Exercising also improves circulation. At least 30 minutes of exercise in the morning can prevent and get rid of dark circles.

3. Use a good eye cream product

Not all eye creams out in the market can get rid of this skin problem. Most of them cannot penetrate deeper into the skin. You should look for a product that contains Eyeliss, Haloxyl and CynergyTK.

Eyeliss is an ingredient that can infuse natural peptides to your dermis. Natural peptides help plump up weak skin cells. This can also improve the thickening process of eye skin. Haloxyl is what reduces the haemoglobin content of red cells. Haemoglobin is what gives a red color to blood cells. By simply reducing the pigment of cells, dark circles can be reduced. CynergyTK is an ingredient that has been taken from sheep wool. This ingredient can infuse functional keratin to the skin. Keratin is responsible for the production of collagen.

4. Drink fruit juices rich in Vitamin C

This vitamin is capable of preventing any kind of pigmentation problem in the skin. It can also improve pale dermis countenance so the dark circles under your eyes will become less visible.

Make sure you drink freshly-squeezed fruit juices instead of the processed ones. They contain natural sugar and fibers. The fibers can flush out harmful toxins in the body.

Make your eyes look brighter with the help of these tips. Also use these tips to avoid future eye skin problems from emerging.

Information about cold sores is all over because cold sores are such a huge problem. If you or loved ones are suffering from cold sores then you need to read this information.

The Best Information About Cold Sores

Cold Sores, aka fever blisters, are painful red blisters that usual appear near the mouth or lips and they are caused by the Herpes Simplex Virus 1 (HSV-1). When the fever blister bursts and the wound crusts over you have a cold sore. A cold sore is considered the main symptom of oral herpes. If you are suffering from a one of these sores that means you can be 99% certain that you are suffering from oral herpes.

As mentioned earlier these sores are caused by the HSV which comes in two types: HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV-1 is responsible for causing oral herpes while HSV-2 is the cause of genital herpes. HSV-1 becomes HSV-2 if it is transferred from the oral region to the genital region.

Depending upon the severity, cold sores of the mouth vary in appearance. There are a number of stages in the life cycle of fever blisters. The very initial stage is known as the tingle stage. At this stage, the sufferer feels a burning or tingling sensation around their mouth and lips. During the next stage, called the blister stage, a water filled blister appears. After this is the weeping stage. This is the most painful stage and at this stage the blister ruptures. After few days, a brownish scab will appear in that area and this is called the crusting stage. After this stage comes everyone's favorite, the healing stage during which the scab starts to disappear.

There is a misconception and some misinformation floating around that fever blisters and canker sores are the same, when they are in fact different. Canker sores are usually white in color and they appear on the inside of the mouth. Cold sores on the other hand are found on the outside of the mouth, around the lips and can even spread over the rest of your face. Cold sores start as fever blisters that rupture and crust over while canker sores do not have such life cycles.

No medication has been discovered which can cure cold sores completely. However, there are many medications available in the market that can reduce the pain, discomfort and duration of these nasty little sores. In addition to these pharmaceuticals there are also natural home remedies that are quite effective.

One thing you will find when looking up information about cold sores is that some remedies will work for some people and not others. Before you decide that there is no remedy for you make sure that you try them all. I am willing to bet that you will find one that works.

Lumbar Supports - Lumbosacral Back Supports

The primary purpose of a back support or back brace depends heavily upon the person wearing it. Back braces can prevent pain or injury, reduce pain or aid in the healing of an injury or the site of a spinal operation. Lumbar supports can serve a number of different purposes as well, reducing back pain or preventing injuries in people who are required to lift heavy objects. There are several different types of supports designed specifically for the lumbar region, including the lumbosacral corset, sacroiliac belt and the lumbosacral belt. Choosing the right one is important in getting the most out of what these braces and supports are designed to accomplish.

The lumbosacral corset is a type of lumbar support crafted primarily from fabric and Velcro. The Velcro fasteners are located in the front of the belt, allowing the user to control how much tension the belt provides. These lumbar supports are highly adjustable, allowing the wearer to create the right level of combined comfort and support. These corset braces are designed to support the lower part of the spine, reducing pressure in the lumbar-sacral region of the spine by causing an increase in intra-abdominal pressure. These braces also promote proper posture, which can aid in reducing pain and preventing injuries.

Sacroiliac belts and lumbosacral belts are lumbar supports that aid in stabilizing the lower back. They are typically comprised of heavy cotton material with lightweight reinforcements. The pressure that these belts provide is completely adjustable, typically with laces located on the sides, front or back of the support belt. Sacroiliac belts and lumbosacral belts tend to vary in width between 10 and 30 centimeters depending on the intended usage. They also differ in where pressure is placed, impacting range of motion of the spine. Sacroiliac belts, for example, place their compressive force between the sacrum and the hipbone.

The use of lumbar supports is largely accepted because they are effective in preventing spinal injuries and treating spinal disorders. Orthopedic physicians often recommend or advocate the use of lumbar braces because they provide numerous benefits with few drawbacks. There are thirty different types of back braces and supports that are available for physicians to treat spinal disorders. These lumbar braces are effective at preventing primary back pain and secondary forms of back pain from occurring by providing the right stability and protection for the spine to prevent injuries from occurring.

What Is The Glycemic Index?

The glycemic index was developed to help us identify and regulate the role of carbohydrates, as they interact with our bodies. We are able to see how each individual food is processed and we can make assumptions about eating the wrong type of food, according to the way it is prepared and the size of each portion. The index classifies foods by rating them between zero and 100, with the lower the better. We need to be sure that our body can process and digest food more slowly, as if the opposite is true, we can put too much stress and strain on our systems. For example, the pancreas is forced to work overtime to produce blood glucose levels and insulin to be able to deal with a higher volume of carbohydrates that break down faster. This is how diabetes develops and it is also difficult for us to regulate our weight, this way.

The glycemic response refers to the speed at which particular carbohydrates affect our blood glucose levels. We have to avoid, at all costs, those spikes in our insulin levels caused by simple carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates are much more difficult for our body to break down and the fact that this process takes time means that our organs do not become overly stressed.

We can split the glycemic index into three categories, ranking food according to whether it is low, moderate or high. At the top end of the scale, a ranking of 100 equates to pure glucose. If we eat far too many of these foods we will just feel less satisfied, tend to be hungry all the time, look for the "sugar rush" snacks and set ourselves up for problems.

A diet is broken down into proteins, fats and carbohydrates. We need each category, but it must be balanced. The glycemic index refers to carbohydrate rankings, but we cannot focus only on these alone as we need to have protein in the right quantity and a certain amount of the correct type of fat as well. Protein and fat will help to balance the worst characteristics of high GI carbohydrates. In addition, we should make sure that we have a sufficient amount of fiber within our carbs, as this slows down the body's processing time.

We don't have to avoid foods that are found toward the higher end of the glycemic index altogether, although if we have already developed diabetes we have to be even more careful, unfortunately. The index does advise us to base our main dietary intake on foods at the bottom end of the scale. It is here that we find those vegetables and fruits. Remember to balance food from the higher end of the list with beneficial proteins.

Paying attention to the glycemic index will help people avoid sugar cravings. You will be much more successful with weight control. Experts tell us that we could experience those cravings as often as 10 times per day. You have to be very stoic to resist!

Getting pregnant should be the happiest time of a woman's life. That moment when you look at the pregnancy tester and see a positive result you know that life is never going to be the same a gain. You are going to have a baby of your own. You cannot wait to tell your family and friends knowing how thrilled they will be to hear the news they have been waiting for.

It is always a big deal when a couple gets pregnant as it seems to bring out the best in people as they congratulate you on your coming event. So what happens when you have a miscarriage. The elation you were feeling suddenly turns to despair as you realize you have lost your baby. Other people try to comfort you but the feeling of loss can be heartbreaking.

Having a miscarriage can be very hard on a couple as they try to understand what happened. Some take it very hard and can get very depressed. The best way to help a couple in this position is to let them grieve and work through the process. If a woman has a miscarriage there is still every chance she could get pregnant again and carry a baby to full term.

It is when a woman has had several miscarriages that tests are taken to determine the cause.

One of the most common causes is PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which is a hormone disorder characterized by enlarged ovaries, containing many small cysts. Even though the cause of PCOS is still somewhat of a mystery there are natural ways you can help manage it. The hormones in a woman's body are responsible for the normal function of her reproductive system so to determine if a woman has a hormonal imbalance a blood test is taken. Symptoms of PCOS are infertility, weight gain, acne and hairloss.

Once the diagnosis is complete then an all-natural treatment can start.

1. A low glycemic index (GI) diet is recommended, as many women with PCOS are insulin resistant. This diet would comprise of proteins such as inorganic meats, vegetables, unrefined carbohydrates and fruit with low natural sugar such as melons and mangos. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) should be eaten as often as you can but limit your intake of wholegrains. What you eat has a profound effect on your hormones.

2. A hair mineral tissue analysis (HTMA) will test for trace minerals and toxic substances in your bodies' tissue. You can purchase a hair analysis kit online and do the first part yourself. It is then sent to a laboratory for testing. Once you have the results you will be able to assess what supplements you need to take and what foods you may have to cut out. An example would be if the test comes back with a high mercury reading you will know to cut out tuna fish from your diet. If you are exposed to heavy metals and pollution this can effect your fertility also.

3. Smoking, alcohol and caffeine can make you infertile so it is essential you quit these dangerous habits.

4. At this point you may want to detox with a herbal cleanser in order to rid your body of any harmful chemicals and toxins. There are teas such as nettle and raspberry that can also be used.

5. Exercise is an essential key to the management of PCOS as it can help normalize hormones. As people who are resistant to insulin have problems ovulating an exercise regime along with the correct diet will reduce weight and insulin resistance. Many studies have been done that prove this too be true.

6. Acupuncture, which is an ancient traditional form of Chinese medicine, believes Qi is an energy that flows through the body keeping a balance of good health. If Qi is blocked then pain and illness will result. By inserting fine needles into certain pressure points of the body Qi can be directed to areas where there is a deficiency and steered away from organs in the body where there is an abundance of it. Acupuncture for infertility is a painless and highly effective treatment which helps women with PCOS to ovulate.

7. . Herbal medicines are far gentler on a woman's system than synthetic drugs administered by conventional fertility doctors.

8. Herbs that are being used to help women with PCOS are evening primrose oil, chasteberry also known as vitex, dong quai, (Chinese herb) black cohesh and saw palmetto. Always consult a herbalist who can advise you what is best for your situation. The beauty of herbs promoting fertility is that they can be used longer than the drugs used in modern medicine and generally have no side effects.

Many women who have followed this regime have reported having a lot more energy, some weight loss and becoming pregnant with their first baby.

The article,Some Symptoms of Acid Reflux and other Digestion Problems, outlines the many digestion issues that are sometimes misdiagnosed as acid reflux but, importantly, offers an inexpensive remedy that many people have found to be successful.

Symptoms of acid reflux, often called gastro esophageal reflux disease(GERD), or other digestive ailments are often caused by just over-eating or eating too late or perhaps eating the wrong foods.

In reality, there are some acid reflux symptoms of excessive eating.

Nevertheless, although it may be your own fault, the agony of the symptoms is still very real; in reality, excessive gas, bloating, heartburn and belching are problems.

There are many people who cannot quite understand their digestive,GERD or heartburn symptoms. Fundamentally, a malfunctioning esophagus happens because of heartburn whilst acid indigestion is an abdominal problem.

Many people associate these symptoms with a typical Western diet which may be true but, nevertheless, there are sometimes nasty surprises behind apparent run-of-the-mill symptoms.

For instance, you may be troubled with chest pains lasting for two or three hours. If these come on when bending over or lying down they are not dissimilar to the symptoms associated with a heart attack - a truly frightening experience.

Persistent chest pains like this should not be ignored and a discussion with a doctor is necessary. Quite often the stomach lining can be damaged which may be a problem of some magnitude in the future.

Downright gluttony along with lots of caffeine and fatty, spiced foods are the cause of many acid reflux symptoms.

For many people, eradicating these causes of acid reflux will be like losing a part of their life.

Nevertheless, healthy living comes with a basic understanding of what you should and should not eat unless you want a life dominated by antacids and other medication like Esopral, Sompraz, Axagon, Zoleri, Nexium, Lucen and Nexiam.

Basically, the aphorism, "for things to change for you, you have to change" is definitely true.

Nonetheless, if you truly want to be rid of any digestive problems you must have a healthy mind from which comes a healthy body. So, forget all about drugs and other medicines and approach your ailments and symptoms from a natural angle.

However, there are plenty of remedies that are natural without being diet specific including herbal style cures and natural medicines as well adjustments to your style of living.

Little adjustments like altering your three main meals to five main meals, although smaller helpings, may well produce spectacular results. Start eating some decent helpings of fruit and vegetables and it is likely you will have beaten your digestion system.

Flushed with success - you'll certainly feel better - you could begin to feel as though you could do with some physical activity.

Add just 20 t0 30 minutes gentle exercise on weekdays and you will feel a whole lot better. Virtually by accident you could have stumbled across how to stop acid reflux now.
